Who We Are

Afican Insurance Brokers Association (AIBA) is one of the earliest bodies established by the Afican Insurance Organisation (AIO). Currently,we have our Head Quarters located in Lagos, Nigeria.

Objectives of AIBA

• Protection and Promotion of the general welfare and interest of Insurance Brokers and Insurance Brokers Associations in Africa.
• Encouragement of the exchange of insurance and reinsurance business between members.
• Promotion of insurance education and exchange of business between members and other insurance markets.
• Facilitation of exchange of technical information between members and other insurance markets.
• Promotion of insurance pools in Africa.

A member is either an insurance Broker or Consultant or Insurance Brokers / Consultants Association, domiciled within a member country of the AIO, registered with the AIO and whose principal business is insurance or related matters.

Associate Member is an insurance broker or a consultant or an organisation not domiciled within a member country of the AIO.

Structure of AIBA

AIBA has a Secretariat, headed by the General Secretary. The Management (Executive) Committee headed by the AIBA Chairman and with Membership elected from the four Regional Groups of West Africa, North Africa (Francophone), Central and East Africa and South Africa, overseas the day to day affiars of the association.

• Participation in the annual AIO Conference, Reinsurance Forum, Life Seminar as well as varrious Workshops and seminars.
• Publishers of the AIBA Newsletter
• Holds General Meetings during te Annual AIO Conference and Reinsuarnce Forum.

Future Priority Areas

• membership drive and retention through qualitative services to members.
• Actualisation of the African Reinsurance Brokers Project which holds great benefits for the African Insurance and Reinsurance Brokers and consultants
• AIBA Representation on the AIO Executive Committee.
• Organisation of Regional Insurance Brokers Conferences, starting with the West African Regional Conference in 2007.
